Forest School

Sherwood Playgroup offer the children the chance to experience the world around them at our Forest School. 

Forest School

Sessions are delivered by Lauren Kinnersley, of Into the Wild Wood.
Lauren is a Level 3 qualified Forest School Leader, with over 15 years of experience delivering Forest School. She is a Recognised Provider of Forest School with the Forest School Association, the body that oversees quality in Forest School provision in the UK.

Into the Wild Wood

Into the Wild Wood takes children outdoors to learn in nature.
I am based in Nottingham and work across Nottinghamshire and Erewash/Amber Valley area of Derbyshire. I work with schools: growing and cooking fruit and vegetables, delivering forest school sessions, Ecoclubs and after-school clubs, storytelling, and delivering environmental education.

About Our Forest School

Forest School gives children the opportunity to spend regular time in nature. The sessions are play based, and child led, so children are able to explore their own interests. Children are supported to grow in confidence and gain resilience, as they learn about the natural world throughout the seasons. The sessions help develop children holistically: they support physical development through exploring and moving; they support social development through play and cooperation with other children; they help develop language and communication; they enable rich sensory exploration in nature and allow children to express themselves creatively using natural materials.

"Wednesday is a special treat because they spend time at forest school and he is always so excited to tell us what Lauren has done with them that day. We tend to pick up as she's packing away and she's always so friendly when the children say bye or wave and has clearly built up a good rapport with them.
